Halloween Signing at Dymocks Southland
From the wonderful Chuck McKenzie (
chuckmck1 ):
The unfeasibly charismatic, handsome, and - above all - talented award-winning author Paul Haines popped into the bookstore the other day to drop off some copies of his Slice of Life collection, and to tee up a signing. It was great to see him again (been far too long between contacts), and he's looking (and acting) inspiringly well for someone who happens to be battling cancer, and all the major and minor crap that comes along for the ride (if you weren't aware of what Paul was going through, you really must have been hiding under a rock for the past year or so).
Anyhoo, I (by which I of course mean 'Dymocks Southland) was determined to do my bit to add to the coffers of the Paul Haines Fund (which obviously goes towards aleviating at least some of the financial burden of Paul's ongoing battle). So. here's what we'll be doing:
All proceeds - that's 100% of the retail price, folks - from copies of Paul's book sold at the signing (Saturday October 31st, 11am - 12 noon) will go directly to Paul; no 'profits', no 'margin', just the full $19.95 per book sold during the event, with the total amount taken straight out of the till at the end of the signing and given to Paul before he heads home.
I'd love to think that as many Melbournians as possible will consider coming in on the day to support Paul. Any queries, please give me a call at the shop on 03-9584-1245. The event is, of course, free (although I hope eveyone will buy a copy of the book), no there's no need to register. Hope to see y'all there!
