Hapax Legomena - July 6th, 2008
A word from the decaying mind of Paul Haines
The 1st of July was set to be the restart of my writing, at least an hour a day, discipline, discipline, discipline. Time to dust off the creative side of the brain and finish all those stories I started before <insert excuses here> happened.

I have written exactly ZERO words of creative fiction since that day.

Bodes well, eh?

My fingers are driving me nuts. My typing has gone to shit. Typos in every sentence, sometimes retyped three to four times to get it right. The backspace key will soon die on this keyboard.

And I'm now approxiamately one month behind returning emails. I apologise.

Current Music: Frazier Chorus "Wide Awake" (1996)

A major breakthrough yesterday.

One, I repeat one, sitting for taking a dump during the entire day. At least 5 creatures lurking in the bowl, of which the second sibling to emerge. a large long and relatively thick beast, lay coiled beneath the surface of the water, protecting the others from sight.

One sitting.

I have been taking up to five a day before this. Oh, can it last? (Maybe not, I've been three times today...)

Current Music: Frazier Chorus "Wide Awake" (1996)

Driving to the airport the other night to pick up my brother. It's just past 5:30pm and the sky hangs thick with cloud, blotting out the light. Isla, 22 months, sits in the back, waiting for the planes to show.

We stop at the lights.

"The moon! Daddy, I can see the moon!"

I look towards the sky. Pitch black, heavy with rain.

"Where, Isla? I can't see it?"

"It's disappeared!"

And indeed it had.

I realised later she had seen a street lamp flickering between the leaves of a tree, but I was still marvelling at her choice of words.
